The SYS has grown from one orchestra to three, with the Premier Orchestra its top performing orchestra. SYS's academy also offers ensemble classes, chamber music workshops and, beginning in Fall 2005, a jazz program. Under the Artistic Direction of Michael Neumann, the Premier Orchestra offers the community artistic and technically proficient concerts and takes part in international tours every few years, most recently touring Brazil. In the summer of 2006, the orchestra will tour South America. Entrance into the SYS is attained through blind auditions, with members being required to audition each season. The deadline to submit open audition applications is typically around the end of April each year. Contact Anne Oncken, Executive Director, email office@sacys.org.
